Sober and Stiff Hawaiian Culture

Today after church there was a farewell party for the youth minister who has been really great for the church. The festivities were solemn- marked largely by ice cream eating contests, karaoke and jumping in a large...well, you see the picture. Of course all of this was on a gorgeous beach where we also saw some huge turtles swimming in the ocean. As an aside this was my first sunday leading worship. The church is still alive and as I am as well I take it all to be a good sign. The rumors are true- we are going to buy a surfboard.
