Tuesday Night Group

Every Tuesday evening around 7:00 a host of young college kids (plus a couple of seniors in high school) descend on our house asking questions like "What about polygamy?" and "Where's your Vanilla Cream Soda?" Pictured above are Stephanie and Charles (Parkland and U of I, respectively) and Laura (U of I too now!). We have a good time singing worship songs and talking about Life, the Bible, and Everything. Fortunately for us Laura and I actually know the answers to Everything (it was a seminary requirement - Answers To Everything 101) so we're on solid ground there.
On a somewhat unrelated note, our Toby attempted suicide a week or so ago...eating a whole bottle of painkiller pills that we left on the counter by accident- we didn't know he was so depressed. The vets gave him an IV fluid thingy and a catheter and kept him for 48 hours on deathwatch. Thankfully his kidneys and liver didn't fail so he came back home to us healthy but with shaved legs where they put in the needles. You can imagine our delight when we went to get him- and the subsequent horror when they handed us the bill.
But it all comes around into a nice full circle. Our Tuesday Night Group friends (impoverished college students all) took up a collection amongst themselves, printed up the cutest card imaginable, and gave it to us on Tuesday- we received, among other things, actual jars of coins with labels like 'fun fund' and 'clothes'. They literally were giving us all they had to give! We felt so blessed and cared for. We hope to make it a weekly tradition. Seriously though, we are very thankful to have a living dog and true friends. Yad ho.
